Abstract for
“A Question of Faith”
The book covers the history of religious
dissent in Farnham, which is considered
against the background of national religious
affairs.
There is evidence of dissent from the time
of John Wycliffe in the early 15th century.
In the past dissenters formed a powerful
force in Farnham and in England, and included
many of the influential characters in the
town’s history.
After the restoration of Charles II, non-conformists
continued to control the town and borough,
and to play a significant role in the economic
life of the area well into the 19th century.
The book has 126 pages, and includes 57
illustrations and an index.
