The Farnham and District
Museum Society is concerned with the History,
Archaeology, Natural History and other matters
of interest in Farnham and the surrounding
area. It has been in existence for well
over 40 years and during this time has provided
support for the Museum of Farnham as well
as providing information for the local community.
A major part of the activities
of the Society is the series of
talks
run twice monthly through the winter
months.
The Society also runs
series of seminars
on local subjects which are held at Farnham
Museum.
The Society publishes a quarterly
Journal containing
articles covering the main areas of interest.
As well as input by members, it also includes
articles written by well-known specialists
in their various fields. The journal is
provided free to all members of the society.
The Society also
publishes
longer reports and books relating to the
Farnham area. In the past, subjects have
included the nearby Roman town of Neatham,
Saxon Farnham, Farnham Castle, Waverley
Abbey, and Farnham in the Civil War. Recent
publications have been made possible by
a generous bequest to the Society by Miss
Leni Grosset.
