Abstract
for “Farnham in the Civil War”
In 1973 the Farnham & District Museum Society
published the results of research by Derek and
Angela Hall, which was followed by a second
book by Derek with Fred Gretton as co-author.
These books have long been out of print, and
Laurence Spring presents the work in a new edition,
correcting a few myths introduced by the Victorians.
Farnham played a significant role in the war,
with its castle being occupied by each side
in turn. Skirmishes took place in the
park, leaving evidence in the form of hundreds
of musket balls.
The book has 63 pages and is illustrated.
